Alfred Hithcock was a British director who is considered the master of suspense, a true master of his craft. He started to direct films during the silent era and continued up to the 1970´s.
Hitchcock directorial work took place between England and the U.S. In the 40´s he directed films in the United States like "Roberta" and "The Rope". The latter was an experimental film where he showed the action happening in "real time", that is, the takes where done with minimal edition, so the feeling of the film is as if we were watching a play going on in front of us instead of a film. There are no time "jumps" or different actions happening simultaneously, but one action happening consecutively.
In the 50´s some of his master works were produced, like "The rear window", "The man who knew too much", and "Vertigo", which is considered one of the greatest films of all times.
Hitchcock died in the 80´s, but his work is considered timeless for fans all around the world.
